Vegan Spirituality Panel


Alan Dale (Buddhist) is an American Tibetan Buddhist and was a disciple of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. He is a lama in the Kagyu, Nyingma, and Gelug lineages. His teachers have included the Dalai Lama, Khensur Rinpoche, Choden Rinpoche, Garchen Rinpoche, Chetsang Rinpoche among many others. He has been vegetarian and then vegan for most of his life.  

Frank Lane (Catholic) has lived a Consistent Life; No War, No Racism, No Poverty, No Abortion, No Euthanasia, No Death Penalty, and No Animal Holocaust.  John Robbins, author Diet For A New America, and The Food Revolution calls Frank’s work “An inspiring message from an inspiring man with a passion for healthy people and a healthy planet.”  Frank served Dr. Michael Klaper’s plant-based advocacy nonprofit for over twenty years.  A serial CEO, inventor, author/speaker and 30-year vegan.  Frank teaches that God belongs to all of us to help release our imprisoned minds.  

Lisa Levinson directs In Defense of Animals’ Sustainable Activism Campaign, which offers emotional and spiritual support for animal activists via a helpline, support groups, and online events. Lisa organizes Vegan Spirituality groups and retreats to explore veganism as a spiritual practice. She co-organizes the Interfaith Vegan Coalition to help places of worship go vegan. She co-founded Public Eye: Artists for Animals to teach compassion for animals through the arts and founded the Toad Detour to help migrating toads safely cross the road in Philadelphia. Deanne Thomsen (Interfaith) engages people of faith about animal protection issues through the religious values of kindness and mercy for all of God’s creation. She brings this message into faith-based communities, schools, churches, and organizations nationwide. Deanne teaches strategies for faith-based animal advocacy as HSUS Outreach Manager for Faith Outreach.
